Mission: To be a thought leader and community base for innovative and sustainable economic thinking in San Antonio.

Vision: Become the premier resource for economic and financial information about San Antonio and South Texas through economic and financial literacy programs and advocacy for these learning goals among the under-served segments of the community.


Board Members

President – Ruby Martinez-Berrier

Bio: A San Antonio native, Ruby works as an Outreach Analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, San Antonio Branch. Ruby was a 2023 NABE Scholar and has professional experience in research, economic development, and finance. Additionally, she holds an Adjunct Professor role at the University of the Incarnate Word. Ruby received a BA in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Belinda Román – Treasurer

Bio: Belinda Román, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Economics at St. Mary’s University. Before joining St. Mary’s Román was Professor of Economics for Palo Alto College in San Antonio. Her research includes collaborative work with the Brookings Institute-Global Cities Initiative and impact studies for the SABÉR Research Institute, an economic development think tank. Prior to academia, Román worked in Latin America for a United States Agency for International Development-funded project, on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives, and in London for both non-profit and for-profit entities.

Alfred Breuer

Bio: Alfred is currently the International Economic Development Manager for the City of San Antonio. Previously he has held positions as a Legislative Director at the Texas House of Representatives as well as the Federal Reserve. He has a BA in Spanish and Latin American History from Austin College, an MA in International Commerce and Policy from George Mason University, and an MBA from IPADE Business School.

Taylor Collins

Bio: Dr. Collins holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from Louisiana State University as well as an MA and PhD in Economics from the University of Houston. Taylor is the Department Chair of Economics/Management/General Business. His research focuses on macroeconomics, energy economics, and time series econometrics.

Jesse Evans

Bio: Co-Founder and COO of tech biostartup Maverick Biometals, Jesse is a seasoned entrepreneur who has worked at several startups in operations and business development. He is a solution finder with a passion for climate tech. He has a diverse background previously studying finance, environmental science, geology, and music. Jesse is an avid traveler and SCUBA diver.

Richard Fetchick

Bio: Vice President of Business Insights at greater:SATX, Richard is a seasoned economic development professional who has worked to better communities throughout Texas and Florida. He holds a BA in History, Italian, and Art from the University of Chicago as well as an MSP in Regional Planning from Florida State University.

Luis Baires

Bio: Luis is a Young Professional who has a passion and drive for finance. Currently, he holds the position of quantitative analyst for Frost Bank Capital Markets where he conducts debt service analysis, bond refunding analysis, assist our investment bankers and municipal advisors. Luis was the 2022 National Association for Business Economics – Scholar recipient.
